Day 3 started with the pitches for the Hackfests -

Robert was surprised as a huge bunch of students showed up for Package Reviewing - so it turned in a Talk how to package

Later i went out with Sankarshan to buy a Indian type of clothing - which keeps you fresh because the air rotates when you walk. It was a pleasure to meet Anuj´s Brother who is also a Computer Scienes Student and i hope i could do some ambassadorial work ;)

pretty fast after was back at the venue i felt dizzy and went back to the hotel where i tried to sleep till some hours ago - right now i am in the RedHat Office Pune and Coke is helping me coming back to consciuos.

it took me some hours to recover from a little sickness - so the post is a bit delayed
Later the second day i attended Roberts Zarafa Talk and MAPI is no longer an alien for me ;)

I also spend some time in the speakers lounge where some informal work already happened before the hackfests and where Fedora Contributors from APAC met the first time in a larger scale!

Later the day the went to FUDPub - i never saw a FUDPub like this, it was on the top of a Hotel with a great sight and it was very fancy and they had music where people danced like in the Bollywood Movies - and it seems normal that one guy ask another for dance - btw. i could avoid dancing - i do not want to end up in the internet dancing ;)

Even if very late i want to have some words - i am happy to see the current nominations for the next FAmSCo - but not happy about the numbers. I hope NA will come up with a candidate as well - otherwise it would be a serious statement! I would have suggested

anyway.

Christoph Wickert would get my vote as well - but i do not want to put more burden on his back - Christoph how does it look? I also want to to put some names in the Ring who should really self-nominate because they do great work and should run for FAmSCo election - consider you nominated by me ;)

Rahul, Kushal and the Team have done a great job with preparation this FUDCon, all is working perfectly and they are very strict to get things punctual started! They deserve a big thank you!!!

The Venue is old and the power has to be provided by a Emergency Diesel Generator - but it has history and charm and i think it is a good place for the event.

The Auditorium has enough space for 900 People and during the Introduction to the Event by Dr. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe the Director of COEP

and the Keynote by Jared the room looked not empty -

so i assume that there were around 300 people present during the Address of the Union.
My talk about the progress in the Fedora Security Lab together with the OSSTMM was scheduled at 2pm in the Auditorium with Video streaming and recording - but was moved to 3pm in another room because the Auditorium was still used for a internal Meeting by the College Staff which had nothing todo with Fedora, so nobody can be blamed on the Fedora Side ;)
In the meantime i joined the others, where we could meet, share and talk.

While i moved between the buildings the guys from null.in.co approached me to tell me they are here only to see my talk!? - because Pete send it in the ISECOM ML - Wow! We will meet again tomorrow to discuss some things around the topic, lets see what we can make out of it.

The talk itself went pretty well, besides i messed up my timing and used much time in explaining details. The Audience was mixed up from member of the RH CERT - till student-freshman - which made it hard to let nobody behind or bored ;) But i think they got the most important message which may will motivate them to contribute to Open Source in the future.

After a crazy india ride back to the Hotel we found some imperative lecture

while waited for the cab to bring us out for buying some stuff and dinner

now i have to stop and sleep before i make more and more typos ... ;)

[FUDCon Pune 2011] Transfer to Pune

right now i am sitting in the Cab to Pune, together with Jared and Robert. That gives me a bit time to finish my slides and blog a bit about the second day in Mumbai. Yesterday we started at 10:00am to Elephanta Island which was awesome to visit.

but also a bit painfull, because of climbing up the hill in the heat with high humidity. But it was more than worth it!

On the way back Robert and Anuj had good conversation about ssh, ssl, gpg and some licencing stuff for Fedora and we had a great view at the Gate and Taj from the Sea Side.

We had a short visit to the Victoria Terminal after that, where we said a short goodbye to Anuj who will rejoin us next Sunday for the FUDCon Hackfests.

[FUDCon Pune 2011 Travel] Stay in Mumbai

After arrival, in the hotel, first thing was to make sure to have power for our devices and that they are protected from power surge ;)

Next morning we made a short visit to the Gateway of India

and the - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum

which are near to our Hotel.

If Fedora Contributors meet face to face it is inspiring and motivating, sometimes new great ideas get born, relations get stronger and build paths to interconnect a worldwide project. Still 2 days till our transfer to Pune starts so we used the time to meet with one of the Mumbai Fedora Contributors - Anuj More - who is active in the Fedora Sound Group and is also a Fedora Ambassador. He showed us the place where the
Wellington fountain is

and to a nice place on the sea -

we discussed some cultural things, but of course also about our work at the Fedora Project and i hope i we can share more time tomorrow and on FUDCon Pune to learn more about each other.

Btw. i found the Fedora Ambassador Place in Mumbai ;) yeah i know ... not very funny

I am back from Fedora Round Table Budapest 2011

the FRT Budapest 2011 is over - much too fast - and i am sure this was just the beginning for the hungary Fedora community. I felt reminded at the first FAD ever in 2006 where a small number of people started the Europe Fedora Community. This is another good example in a "new" Region where Fedora is used quite often in areas that you may not expect.

Even if a FRT is a informal Meeting, Zoltan Hoppar and Peter Borsa did an excellent and thorough job with preparation, agenda and presentation. What made the event special was that they all together met the first time and a surprise from Jared - Peter blogged about it.

Not all of the participants were Fedora Contributors but are very expirienced FOSS Contributors like the Developers from ULX who work on the Fedora based SuliX or as example Janos Viragh a Professor from the József Attila University in Szeged who maintains a OSSMath spin based on Fedora (Mel, you should invite him to a POSSE Session so he can share his awesome knowledge) - another attendee joined us just because he made a fresh Fedora Installation and saw a blog post about the FRT when he started his Firefox - keep blogging!

In the first part we discussed the status, targets, ideas, possibilities within the Hungarian Fedora community, i learned that Open Source is well known and used in Hungary and that even the Hungarian Government works on a new statute to replace MS Office products with Open Standards and as example in Szeged we have already showcases where hundreds of Lab-Machines on the University run Fedora. We ended up pretty fast with some action items to spread FOSS and Fedora on educational institutes
- bring the educational Open Source Activities in Hungary together and learn from each other - like SuliX and the OpenEdu Programm, but also involve the Fedora spins that are intended for education - like FEL, FSL, OSSMath, Design-Spin,
- try to aggregate/unite the different hungarian educational projects on one portal for easier access
- approach more universities and introduce how to use and contribute to Fedora
- use Government Contacts that already exist to find opportunities to place Fedora as learning platform

We all had good conversation during the Lunch - i got more insight on Fedora-Insight from Peter Borsa and we enjoyed the good meal ;)

In the afternoon we continued the discussion about gaining speed in Hungary, and Gergely Buday suggested to have a Tutorial Weekend around Fedora in the near Future - because it is expensive to send all the speakers to Budapest we thought about the opportunity to combine it with the EMEA Planning Fedora Activity Day for 2012 which could held this time in Budapest or to combine it with Online-Video-Live Sessions. On the other hand we all agreed that if Fedora want to become a more visible part of the FOSS eco System in Hungary it would help to join the important events like Info Savaria, Informatics in education, LOK...

Further we discussed the opportunity to use the already established sys-admin.hu portal as a place for potential users/contributors to go where the local Fedora Community provides news, online tutorials and project information. But this idea needs more discussion, - maybe the URL is not related enough to FOSS and there is the concern to create too much new Infrastructure and fragmentation, the goal is that contributors join and work inside the Fedora Infrastructure to the whole Project not only regional.

We also reminded us that Fedora has one overall goal - the next release - and here we agreed on some action items as example to have the awesome Flyers created by Mairin and the Design Team should be translated and reformated to the European printing format and that we want to support new releases with more translation sprint, install fests here in hungary.

Finally we had a nice surprise - i saw a lot Fedora Cakes in the past on pictures but never had the opportunity to eat one ;) - it was delicious and if you joined the Event in IRC #fedora-meeting-1 you maybe saw the Topic 3. Eating the Fedora Cake ;) this is where this picture derives ;)

I am soon back from a Trip in the past

may you saw Roberts post, i just needed a short break from my normal live and let all electronic gadgets behind.

I joined a friend to make a trip to the past - to a place like more than 100 years ago - the Jaegerbauernalm - a Alm which is different from what you may know from tourist visits - you can only reach it via a 1,5 hour scramble path and you have no electricity and most of the things you eat is from the animals that live on this place or you can find in the nature - cheese, milk, herbs - but we brought some things with us like bread and marmalade, ... ;)

You sleep above the barnstable which keeps you warm - and you smell like a barnstable ;) - and the sanitary installations? A large blue bucket :S
After 3 Days my body is back from this trip - there are no words to describe how great that was. I will report back on duty tomorrow evening - i am not already back here ;)

a Fedora Talk, a bank heist and the OSSTMM

this is pretty funny - as i gave my talk about the Fedora Security Lab and the OSSTMM at foss.in in Bangalore in 2009 - Kushal found it nice that i used the metapher of a bank heist to explain how the OSSTMM works.

Now in 2011 - Pete Herzog, the Mastermind behind the OSSTMM, made a must read article about

"Analyzing the Biggest Bank Robbery in History"

It is another great example that Open Source let us do things just more sticking to facts without commercial influence by a industrie that want protect their own interests! ;)

Chemnitzer Linuxtage Day One started!

To be on time at the Hotel for pick the booth crew up, i had to wake up at 06:00 am - horror for me - because it is still a distance from where i stay, to Chemnitz. At 08:15, still early ;) we started from the Hotel to the Venue.

Organisation of the Event is awesome - they really take care that all what you expect from a good event works - and it is still "Chemnitzer Catering Days" ;)
As usual at Chemnitzer Linuxtage, it is a challenge to get potential new Contributors excited about Fedora, because most people are already focused on their area of expertise with the distribution of their choice.

Fedora Users showed up and tried the new Gnome3 on the Fedora 15 Alpha which was stable most of the time, Robert and Sven did some troubleshooting here and there, and we all were friendly teasing with our other fellow both neighbours ;) I provided a showcase of the Fedora Security Lab together with a Flyer who points out, why we learn from the OSSTMM and why it makes FSL better in the long term.

BTW. If you are a Security Worker and if you have the opportunity to attend the Troopers 11 this year, do not miss Security-Mastermind Pete Herzogs Sessions at that Event.

I had also some really interesting talks with people who want to introduce Fedora in new Areas and i will write about that as soon as i know how this has developed. Ah, and the Distro Battle - mhm i show some Pictures of it and let Christoph blog about that session ;) - hint, we know what we are talking about!

We had also some discussion about the libevent dependency trouble i have with honeyd in FSL and that LXDE is maybe the wrong choice -> every nightly build drives me crazy - Fabian started a try with XFCE - first run failed - Fabian i told you it is not soo easy ;)

this was a long day - the morning was very busy with work for my company, because i had to finish earlier, to start the travel to the Chemnitzer Linuxtage 2011.

We - Robert Scheck, Fabian Affolter and me - started at 12:30 from Stuttgart with the FLG for the 400 km trip to Chemnitz.

Even if we have troubles with Fedora ressources here in EMEA, i think we could build up a pretty good booth.

Damn we had a beamer in the past years - which was sponsored by Gerold - to present Fedora - but unfortunately it is broken after so many years of use - hope we can repair it, because it was always better to show things to a larger group of people and it was always a magnet because people are curious about what is going on at this large screen.

Maybe again next year. Robert and Fabian also hung up some flags in the whole area -

i always think that the organizers here might be a bit unhappy about it but they never complained.

Christoph joined us after his preparation meeting for the "distro battle" which will be held tomorrow - i was assured that there will be no looser ;) and the title is just to attract visitors and that every Distro can show their strength. Jaroslav Reznik and Radek Novacek told me that they unfortunately can not join us, like it was planned - pity.

It is still the best organized event i know, from what i saw today and i am happy to be here and excited to start the event tomorrow.

FUDCon Budapest 2011 bid

Fabian and Gerold made an interesting bid for Dublin. I can not imagine better Event Organizers and will support them if the Dublin bid get selected. But so far this is the only bid for a FUDCon EMEA in 2011! Bids end 15. March 2011! Hey EMEA whats up?

Zoltan and me decided to go for a bid for FUDCon Budapest 2011.

Maybe some of you know my efforts to gain more ground in the former eastern bloc and i am sure that this is a great opportunity for Fedora to gain ground in a beautyfull Country with a lot smart and very friendly people!

I see FAmSCo already as an project-wide Instance to go for Budget also if a Contributor is not a Ambassador - this has to be addressed more public - i also think that, how FAmSCo did the last selection of the LATAM FUDCon Location showed that FAmSCo is able to handle project-wide decission around Events.

Ambassadors from every region have a seat in FAmSCo that shows that every Region is strong enough to vote their representative into that Commitee so every Region has a voice here. We have also strong leadership teams in most regions and yes most often they are Ambassadors
as well ;)

We had discussions about overall future goals within the Fedora Board also with FAmSCo https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Board_goals_2011

- one of them is addressed as:

A good Ambassador is also a good catalyst - and i want suggest that we in Ambassadors with FAmSCo as moderator start to think about how we can bring the ideas that we collected on FUDCon related to that goal to live - i volunteer to represent our result within the Fedora Board, because i expect some frictions about that ideas ;)

According to studies from Diana (Martin) Harrelson, who made her anthropology thesis about us, it is much more easier to join the Fedora Project if someone already is known to a Contributor, this strongly
supports the Mentoring concept that we already started in our Group.

Where can we work on?
* The Overall Project Join Process gives the Candidate the opportunity to speak with a real person/contributor before they start choosing a group (by choice? or by default? ...) start with collecting Ideas would be great: like Join-Fedora IRC Channel as example?

* Ambassador act as liason to other groups - this is only natural because i am convinced a good Ambassador is at least CLA+2 ;) and is necessary to be the taskjuggler for new Candidates

* has to be adressed
If we can figure out, how to support the overall Join Process as a formal Service, how should this be formalised, addressed, placed...? Can we handle the expected numbers? What are these numbers?

* Ambassadors are the taskjugglers to assign easy tasks and join requirements, to redirect low skilled people into very easy tasks and spare valuable time from busy Contributors.
this makes liasonship and effective communication imperative - i think a expirienced Ambassador who is also Member of the certain group can choose from the certain Trac Instances - and also assess what easy means for the candidate this is different from candidate to candidate.

this is a great opportunity to evolve the Ambassadors Group and i am excited if people want to take this ideas and can make something from it. I am on Board! After collecting more ideas here in that list i suggest to aggregate them (as example in a WikiPage) and make them ready
to propose it on the Advisory-Board list for a project-wide discussion.

Of course everyone can read into it what he wants to read, i wear that button and i am not a poisonous person and i am involved in Fedora since 2005 and in FOSS much longer.

I believe we should abandon these "poisonous" word - it is used much too often to quash arguments.
I totally agree that Personal attacks by some people are totally against our "Be excellent to each other"!
Just calling people "poisonous" - only because they find their feelings represented by a statement on a Button - is also not excellent!

Lets take this button as a kick off to work on solutions - lets begin with better communication!

Today was the Day of the Hackfests - i had a little, little one with Richard Fontana to clarify some US-Law questions that i had regarding to the Security Lab. But the most people worked in the Governance Track led by Spot, where i also joined some while

i also gave the LATAM Hackfest a short visit.

I gave some folks a ride to the local camera dealer - and back in the Hotel Tatica had to test her new camera-stuff

and technical People seems to love Cameras, so you find expensive Cameras much often

went to dinner to place called 5 guys - which is famous for the most tasty burgers - and Maria could not resist to sketch something for the "i <3" wall

but i am not sure if they let it hang like this ;)

right now we are back in the Hotel and People are chating or playing board-games or just drink the rest of the leftovers.

And sadly this also means time here on FUDCon ends. And People start to pack their bags and move to the airport - so the big goodbye will start soon.

FUDCon follow up

I already blogged about the second Day, but just want to add a little about the last third of the day - NA Ambassadors did their Hackfest in formalizing the plans and events for 2011. Clint took the moderation - it was pretty much like we do it in EMEA: collecting events, decide who to send to the event, and what ressources are needed.

In the evening of the second day i was distracted by fixing my HD which died and i had to buy a new one and install new - the last main backup is at home in Germany, but i could recover the most important things like my ssh-keys and gpg-keys, so i am operational right now, thanks to Larry for the screwdriver, Ben for the mirror and the cd-drive, Jeroen for the help with lvrename (stupid to give the new installation the same name than the old one) and Harish for carrying my Laptop while it was doing data-repo and John for the moral support ;)

While i was reviving my Laptop, the other Fedora People had fun in the Hospitality Suite in our Hotel

by playing Board Games or Poker.

Jared started the State of the Union Address, he talks about how Fedora evolved over the years and is making a good analogy that Fedora is like raising a child which matches the actual situation in Fedora pretty good.

To have open discussion is one of the key things and sets us apart from other Development Models. He believes Fedora is strong - and with this FUDCon it will get stronger - also because of all the great People. Jared encourages us to work together and to share what we are doing and what we are learning.

It was good to meet many new Faces which are long-time Co-Workers in Fedora but also meet old friends again.

It was pointed out, that it is very important that people meet at 09:00 on 27.01. CDN 60 for the session pitches so i hope that people will be on time.

FUDCon Tempe 2011 - a looong Travel

Delta canceled my flight on 25.Jan.2011 and moved it to 24.Jan 2011, this means more than 30 hours break in Atlanta. This turns out to become a travel-adventure ;) I am in my hotel right now with a great view to the Airport Tower.

But honestly, i can use this break to work on my proposed tracks for this FUDCon ;)
- about the progress on SecurityLab and the new released OSSTMM 3,
- work with all interested Fellows on current Challenges in the Ambassadors Group,
- and want to collect proposals during a Governance Hackfest how Fedora could be governed in the future - as example to get better with logistics and budget management outside the US

While i am totally jealous of all the foss.in 2010/Bangalore attendees - because it was a awesome event in 2009 and a life experience for me and it was 30°C warm - i am on the road in the German Snow Chaos

OSSTMM 3 - a long trail

In the next Days the foss.in 2010 will take place and it is now one year ago - on foss.in 2009 - where i introduced the first time my efforts around the Fedora Security Lab and the OSSTMM, as my ongoing approach to maintain a Platform for Security Testers and for Teaching Security - by including methods from the Open Source Security Testing Methodology Manual (OSSTMM), besides just to have a selection of test tools. There is still a lot work ahead and sometimes i go crazy on the hurdles we have to take because of trade secrets, licence issues etc. - but even with small steps you can go a path ;)
I look forward to my talk on FUDCon Tempe/Arizona in January 2011 to find out how we can improve on that.

Nearly every Standard who implements Security Management into Bussines Processes, requires that the results from security tests as the base for the risk assessment, ensure to have comparable and reproducible results. How to ensure that? The OSSTMM is the perfect Guide.
And the auditing department will love the results out of the OSSTMM Metric - the Risk Assessment Value(rav).

For those who do not know the OSSTMM - the "Institute for Security and Open Methodologies (ISECOM)" is the non-profit organization and maintainer behind the approach to create - the "ultimate security guide"!

Working together with the ISECOM, i got my hands on the brandnew and soon to be released OSSTMM 3!

The ISECOM released some sneak preview´s and Lite versions around the Version 3 in the past years. The Lite Version in 2008 was complete enough, to have a good idea what direction the whole thing goes.

But - the last complete, public available Version of the OSSTMM, was the Version 2.2 in Dec 2006. So it took 4 years to come up with a new version! Putting all the released work and blog posts from the ISECOM together over the time, interested people can have a good picture how the new release will look like - but there were also surprises.

The Version 2.2 with 129 pages overall, contained 41 "empty" template pages - the current Version that i have here now, is 210 pages strong, what a bunch of paper work ;)! But it is not just quantity - what i see at the first sight, the wording and the chapters are much more consistent and better meshed up.

During this 4 years a lot work has been invested and even work that was already invested to improve the new Standard - is removed from this version - like the "Test Error Margin - TERM". To be honest i am not so unhappy about that, because the TERM had biased parts anyway in the calculation ;)

Like the old Version, the new has the benefit of a Standard, it provides common ethics and conduct, common wording, organizational regulations - a common sense. Like the "old" it does not only take vulnerabilities into account by also looking in to security controls and operational security. It considers also legislation and compliance and it provides a really awesome security metric to provide quantified test-results.
Hint, i know a lot people that also use the rav as a helper to make a final decission what new control they choose - confronted with different solutions to spend money on Security. According to the new Standard, the Metric from 2.2 to 3.0 is not compatible and must be recalculated - mhm this is something i have to dive in :S

It introduces things we expected in that new version, like the 4 point process and the reorder of the Security Map with now 3 Classes divided in 5 Channels and 17 Modules for every Channel. This is something i like much better, because in the old version it felt inconsistent and confusing in the form that every channel(former section) had different Modules with also different names. No Templates? - Yes, besides the AuditReport(STAR), no Templates, i do not miss them ;)

Reading through it, i get excited more and more - there is a mapping what module represents which part of the 4 point process. Newcomers will find things that will help them with a transitions from classical concepts of Security Definitions by linking them against the OSSTMM controls. Another huge new part is a whole chapter on trust analysis and introducing trust properties and trust rules - i should have guessed that from Essential Trust Analysis

Diving into the Channels, Modules and Tasks, they are still quite explicit and specific what to test and what to perform, but let you enough room to decide which tools you use doing your work, as long as you know what you are doing with it - i know a lot testers who had the fear that this gets cut off. The "expected result" passage is no longer part of the modules and this can only help to find a unbiased result. I already pointed out that it is now much more consistend by having the same Modules in every Channel and therefore i am convinced it is easier to work with!!!
I can not wait to see it adopted by more security professionals.

While we work on the quality of the Report with all FAmSCo Members - i want to share some key achievements and Numbers.

Besides all the ongoing tasks like SWAG-, Media-, Ressource-, Budgethandling, Release Party Contests, Mailing-List- & Membership-Administration, Ambassador Townhalls und Mentors Meetings, we achieved also a lot for the Group itself - some examples

we released the Fedora Ambassadors project structure for more clarity
a dispute resolution procedure for the Ambassador Group is established
we opened up the FAmSCo Mailing List archives for more transparency
primary tasks and goals where given to every Member of FAmSCo in 2010
our FAmSCo election rules got revised and ratified
the FAmSCo Wiki Pages got a clean up and a complete reorganization

Over the years we could constantly increase our Event participation:

Ambassador Membership Administration and Mentoring is also a major part where we improved our performance:

the Ambassador Membership Process got tweaked with the new Membership Wizard
Mentors Survey and Mentors Survey Summary
the regional Ambassador Mentors appointment process was established

That day as i visited my first FUDCon in 2005 in Karlsruhe, i could never imagine that i will be really a part of such a great team.

Even as FAmSCo made me the Membership Administrator for the Ambassdor Group 3 years later in 2008 - without being a FAmSCo Member - i never thought i am hard working enough, to deserve to work in a Steering Commitee.

And now that i served 2 periods in FAmSCo? The FAmSCo Report for the last 12 month is nearly finished - and if i look back - i am proud of the Ambassador Group and i am proud of FAmSCo as well.

My biggest thanks to all who helped Fedora to make this happen!!!

Robert Scheck and Zoltan Hoppar:
they are the right people to conquer new areas like the former east or the scandinavian countries. Zoltan is also a creative mind in producing new SWAG.
Robert is a brilliant developer and the person behind the inclusion of Zarafa in Fedora he also helped me together with Fabian and Susmit in Fedora Ambassador Membership Administration and as EMEA Mentor.

Mathieu Bridon - a great liason to the french community with a straight, brilliant view of things and a very thorough Mentor

Larry Cafiero, -a very reliable and thorough mentor and mediator - would really love to see him on FAmSCo

Pierros Papadeas - hot-headed, fresh minded clobe-trotter and undeniable one of the EMEA Leaders and our reliable EMEA Meeting Chair

Isaac Sanni-Thomas - my big hope for Fedora in Africa

Gerard Braad and Caius 'kaio' Chance - my big hope for Fedora in China

We are more than 700 Group Members and now that i nominated above candidates i am aware that i will hurt the feelings of so many of you who deserve it in the same way to be in FAmSCo - do not hesitate, nominate yourself!!!

Review about the Szabad Szoftver Konferencia 2010 in Szeged, Hungary

it is two year´s ago that i wrote a email to the Szeged Open Source Lab at the Institute of Informatics, University of Szeged. We struggled with a lot delay´s and misunderstandings - with the help from Timea we even communicated in hungarian language. I never made it to Szeged :(

And now, with the help from Zoltan and Robert, we finaly made it, to have Fedora with booth and talks at an FOSS Event in Szeged. Big thanks to both of you!!!

A bit of Fedora Logistics and a Fedora Security Lab Session

Today Robert Scheck and me took time to work on the Fedora Security Lab to polish it for the upcoming Fedora 14.

We removed some Application which are not longer well maintained or have better alternatives and also added several new Tools.

Now we have a Script to parse the kickstartfile for the Security Lab Applications and creates the Desktop Entries fully automatical to build the security-menu package from it.

Now we are able to include new tools much faster and have a streamlined workflow for it, as well for creating the WikiPage with all the Security Applikations on it.

And we have a new Member of the Fedora Logistic Group ;) i handed all FUDCon Shirts and the Material that we own - tableclothes, standup-rollers, large flags, beamer, power-plugs, sidewalk-chalk for Mairin, network-switches, cables and more to make the FUDCon Zurich beautifull, over to Robert - and he will bring it all with his car to Zurich!

And besides all the fun, also a important Point: we still need more helping hands for the Event in Szeged please contact me if you are interested to support Fedora at this event!!!

FRT is always a good opportunity to meet old and new Fedora People - thanks Felix for the organization. And yay - no Steak Tartare on the Table ;)

To get and give feedback face to face is definitely very fruitful - besides a lot informal talk ;) - one though i took with me from a talk with Christoph Wickert - is that most people in Ambassadors contribute on different groups in Fedora anyway and it would be good to get regular Feedback about all their achievements on ambassadorial level as well - a lot Ambassadors do this anyway ;)

Aahh and another one - we made a schedule to proceed on some task with the Security Lab - Robert and me will sit together in the next weeks to get some necessary work on the Fedora Security Lab done. It was a good time! Thanks all!

Ambassadors Mentors Survey Result

I want to share with you the collected answers of our Ambassadors mentoring survey.

This is the first stage, FAmA will now aggregate the answers and work out a proposal to the Mentors which will be discussed in the - soon to be announced - (next) Mentors Meeting - to enhance the membership and mentoring expirience.
